Settlement Reached In Newark Car Accident Suit

A settlement was recently reached in Newark, NJ, regarding a car accident lawsuit that occurred in 2004.

The suit was filed by the families of the two women who were killed in the crash after driving off Raymond Boulevard and going into the Passaic River.

Monique Hawkins, 39, and Nicole Floyd, 34, reportedly drowned after their Jeep went off a 15-foot embankment and into the river.

According to the suit, there were no guardrails or barriers to prevent cars from going into the river from Raymond Boulevard.

The car is said to have sunk 35 feet to the bottom of the river.

Following the fatal accident, both families of the women filed a suit against the city of Newark for their wrongful deaths.

The suit claims that the city did nothing to install guardrails at the end of the deadly stretch of road that took their loved ones.

They also claim that before and after this incident, other crashes occurred due to the same circumstances
