South Florida Pedestrian Trapped Under Truck At Crosswalk

A pedestrian was hospitalized Friday morning when he became trapped beneath a truck at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Dixie Highway. According to Hollywood fire-rescue, two trucks collided at the intersection and then hit a pedestrian at the crosswalk. That man was trapped under the truck for about 30 minutes, Hollywood police Capt. Tony Rode said.We used quite an arsenal of tools to get the man out,” Hollywood fire-rescue spokesman Mark Steele said.

Steele said it was the way the man was trapped that made it so difficult to free him.

“He was pinned between the axle and the springs underneath the pickup truck,” Steele said.

Fire-rescue crews had to prop up the truck using a jack and then use special tools to separate the axle.

The pedestrian was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital. His condition is not known.
