A 4-year-old boy was hospitalized Friday morning after he was nearly crushed by a mechanical gate, Local 10′s Anjanette Flowers reported. The incident happened sometime after 8 a.m. at Azul at the Fontainbleau, located at 8251 NW Eighth St.The boy was airlifted to Miami Children’s Hospital.
He was waiting at the bus stop with his brother and friends and the fence closed and closed on him,” said Dr. Jefry Biehler.
Miami-Dade fire-rescue officials said the boy was talking, but they worried he may have had serious internal injuries.
“His mother on scene and other bystanders informed us that a metal gate, while it was closing, caught him between a post and the gate itself, causing him some injuries,” said Miami-Dade fire-rescue Lt. Eddy Ballester.
Doctors said the boy was in stable condition and his injuries were minor.
